  1. Tales of Suspense: Cap’s origin. “And your name shall be … Bucky!” LOL! That was great!

Bucky barging into Steve’s tent. “Could I borrow your –” and never finishes that sentence. What could he have wanted to borrow? Helmet? Cologne? Hair gel? Magazines? My imagination is failing me.

I agree, Michael. The Adventures of Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty was a fantastic retelling of Cap’s and Bucky’s origin. When you said “2 and a half issues were great”, that’s right in line with how much was drawn by Kevin Maguire (of Justice League International fame). Fabian Nicieza was at his writing height at this time, too. Love to re-read it.

Iron Man: I can’t remember, did you notice that he has a Tony Tingle? “My built-in radar-type detector is beginning to tingle!” Now I’m giggling like I’m 12.

Avengers #13: Count Nefaria leads the Maggia. Until I was a teenager, I legit thought “the Maggia” was a real thing, not just a Marvel thing. But it’s not like we had the internet back then to look stuff up, and the school encyclopedias didn’t have much info on organized crime. Ah my misspent youth.

I picture Nefaria sounding like “The Count”, and he makes much more sense. “One, one trapped Avenger. Two, two trapped Avengers. Three, three trapped Avengers! AH AH AH!!!” (lightning flash)

Getting closer and closer to magic 100. Until it’s revealed that Bucky was trained *before* Captain America, make mine Make Ours Marvel.
