Hi guys! Not only is this the last leap-frog until Defenders #64, I’ve heard Titan Up the Defense cover that issue. It’s a wacky mix where multiple groups of people, heroic and otherwise, are claiming to be the Defenders after an aspiring filmmaker puts out a movie including an invitation for new Defenders. It’s not as bad as the “Showing up only to be shot by Scourge” that happens to some villains, but it’s pretty minimal.
In the recap of Daredevil vs Hyde/Cobra, they say that Daredevil has the upper hand once the lights are out because of his experience as a blind man. I think that should be kind of equaled out by Hyde’s knowledge of his own laboratory. Also, John says making an antidote isn’t common, but think a competent supervillain should always try to make an antidote in case it is somehow used on them. Despite these nitpicks, I’m happy to see Daredevil get a little less silly. I discovered him in the Fall From Grace story line and he quickly became my favorite Marvel comic.
Tales of Suspense #94: Cap vs MODOK. Not to be overly critical, but MODOK should have been bigger on the cover. You’d almost miss him in the lower corner, and not really get how big that head is. I guess Jack prefers drawing Cap punching guys, which doesn’t really work with Mo head.
Does the female agent actually like Cap not knowing her name? She could have taken initiative any time to share it, but instead she reinforces the not knowing point. Now I’m wondering.
Daredevil King Size #1: vs the Feeble Five. I had to snicker when Electro says he’s the “invincible master of electricity”, when I could swear he’s been vinced in every one of his appearances.
Thor #144: Not related to this story, but the first time I read a comic with “Odinsword”, there was no visible sword in the story, and I thought it was “Odins word.” This has been an installment of “Tim was a dumb kid.”
Daredevil #32: vs Cobra and Hyde in a lighthouse. You know, for partners, CoHy spend more time fighting each other than Johnny and Ben. No wonder they’ve downgraded from Thor.
Cutting the lights was a great strategy for DD, but also should have clued in CoHy that something’s fishy about DD’s abilities, unless they’re not the criminal geniuses they say they are! Oh wait, see previous paragraph.
The Avengers 44: I think Michael mentioned “they never revealed why Hawkeye’s capsule broke open.” Maybe this isn’t what you meant, but on page 13 fourth panel, Hawkeye himself muses “‘Cause I got me a hunch she’s on our side — and that she’s the one who gimmicked my cage!” That seemed good enough for me, but I’m overthinking things as usual.
I really like your theory that Black Widow is changing her story all the time because spy. Just perfect.
Thanks for the great episode, guys. Until next time, or until Cobra defeats Mr Hyde by spitting in his mouth (Ew!)*, make mine Make Ours Marvel!
