  1. Baron Yucker and his Yutzkrieg Squad: not exactly winning me over to read Sgt Fury. Hearing your discussion of it is plenty for me. Here’s hoping the next issue is better.

For Avengers #12, my high point was the Wasp being acknowledged as chairperson for the issue. The rest of it, completely forgettable. But just making a point of giving Jan her turn to chair the team: HUGE! It doesn’t make up for the low points, of course. But it’d be equally remiss to gloss over how atypical this was for the time. And there’s no way Stan and company could have known what would happen in just over 200 issues. As if they even thought the comic would still exist in 200 issues!

The Mandarin’s origin: Wasn’t this supposed to explain why he targeted Tony Stark? Because I didn’t see squat about that! Just “he was raised to hate everything.” Does he hate succeeding? He must, since attacking Stark brought Iron Man to China just in time to ruin his plan. (Like you said Michael, if these villains just didn’t attack people, their plans would succeed.)

I *think* the rings are kinda-sorta explained in 300 issues. You’ll get there in no time.

Cap in prison: Ah, the old “gum wrapper in the lock” trick. Except, Cap hasn’t chewed gum in his life. I mean, really. I’m trying to picture Cap talking while chewing gum, or blowing a bubble while training Rick. No. It just, no. So that just means one thing. Cap collects gum wrappers. “Darn litterbugs. That’s just un-American. And I *am* Captain America!”

Finally realized how Rick gets around so much. Clones. Rick Clones. Hah? Hah? (… hello, is this thing on?)

Until the Mandarin trades in his robes for a swimsuit, make mine Make Ours Marvel!
