Fantastic Four #67: I shouldn’t smirk that the Science Citadel guys are so bad at plans, that bringing Alicia didn’t help them at all. No sculpture, just brought the FF’s wrath on themselves, perhaps making them even less able to deal with Him. I’m sure they learned their lesson and won’t try this again. … I said, “I’m sure they learned their lesson…”
Ben eating all the wheatcakes was a delight.
The Avengers King Size #1: You know, considering Swordsman was an Avenger, this issue really *did* have all of the Avengers in it. Except Black Widow, dang it. Hey, she saved Captain America from the Sons of the Serpent, so she’s as much as Avenger as Hercules.
Tales to Astonish #96: Namor vs Pludererer-er, and visiting Fen’s grave. Did she die before the nuclear testing, or from the tests? If before, how did her headstone on the bottom of the ocean stay in place after the bombing? If from the bombings, someone came back to Atlantis to find her body and bury just her, none of the other Atlanteans? Or did that Atlantean just *tell* Namor that’s what happened? “Oh your mom? Oh yes, I totally found her body after a nuclear bomb test, floating in the ocean, not a problem, not blown into dozens of bits and swallowed by sea life, for a sludge burial. Absolutely, your highness. I absolutely did not spend that month in Bermuda instead.”
Hulk and High Evolutionary. An ambiguous ending. I rarely like ambiguous endings, and didn’t like it here. But I will grant that the Hulk’s monster/horror comic feel makes it more acceptable. So it’s fine.
The X-Men #36: Trying to get airfare to Europe was the just the best. Loved it.
Amazing Spider-Man #53: Another great Spider-issue! I won’t go into it, just yeah, great great stuff!
But I’m with you guys on all the questions. Will Aunt May remember Doc Ock? She didn’t think of it as a kidnapping back in the Sinister Six story, so that’s not good for Peter. Will Ock remember May? Is Betty Brant going to get a surprise as well? Does nobody really notice the huge bulging metal arms under Ock’s coats? I can’t wait!!!!
Great show, Marvelous ones. Until next time, or until the High Evolutionary reveals that Wanda and Pietro aren’t mutants*, make mine Make Ours Marvel!
* See Uncanny Avengers Vol 2 issues #2-5. I read that story, but honestly, I don’t know how to explain it more than that.
