  1. Strange Tales #135: Nick Fury begins. I was gobsmacked that LMDs were introduced in the very first story! In my head, they would have been used after a cliffhanger issue with “Fury’s dead!”, and in the next issue, “nope, this new thing called an LMD was killed, I’m fine and dandy and here’s a fist in yer mug!” But we see the out of the box. Wow! No wonder this series is revered! Everything that made SHIELD cool is here. Helicarriers, flying cars, HYDRA, and Fury’s flerkin’ eyepatch!

Dr Strange is still running, but I don’t mind. Yes, it’s been a while. I’m really digging it. Using his cape to animate the armor was brilliant! Followed by Stephen socking Mordo’s muppet in the gut. With his hand. The hand that was injured and led him to become a sorcerer. I still question him punching people in general, but not enough to ruin the whole thing. As for “why didn’t he mesmerize those demons before”, I’m expecting it’s a case of “they won’t fall for that again” so he has to keep using different tricks each issue. I’m on board with that.

X-Men #12: More like the Jugger-Not! Amirite?! Hah? Hello? Sorry.
I read this on Marvel Unlimited, and his legs are colored there. It’s supposed to be shorts, right? I feel cheated.
This was definitely a comic. Definitely. … I guess there’s something to making the whole issue build the dread of facing this unstoppable menace. But the traps were silly, Prof X’s origin was ok but not great, and the final page didn’t deliver the pay off needed. A full page splash would have done the trick. But no. Sigh.

Thor #118: The Destroyer is destroying with all the DESTROY!!! That was pretty wild, but gotta say, Loki’s realization “wait, this might be bad for ME!” When that’s been the plot of every single Loki story to date! Did he really think Odin wouldn’t catch on who was behind any of the previous attacks on Thor eventually? I mean sure, Odin’s pretty awful, but even he would’ve checked his Odin-scanner and seen “hey, that Absorbing Man guy was powered up by magic! Loki, you got some ‘splainin’ ta do!” Course right now, it’s Odin-nappies and when he wakes up he’ll be hungry and time for Odin-ner. (Insert Fozzie Bear gif here)

Another fun time, guys. Until next time, or until SHIELD is wiped out by its cockroach problem, make mine Make Ours Marvel.
