I missed Deadpool’s debut in New Mutants, but did buy the early X-Force issues and his mini-serieses. (mini-serii? mini-serius?) And that was pretty much it. After the movie, I did a binge of his solo series and Cable/Deadpool. They definitely made him skirt the line between anti-hero, mercenary, and villain. It was pretty entertaining, but I’m pretty much done-pool.
This movie was really funny, but I walked out thinking “I don’t feel a need to rewatch that.” A bit too icky for my taste, I guess. But I have a fun story to share.
I was downsizing my comic collection at a 3-day sci-fi/fantasy convention, and went to see the movie in the evening. The next day, a cosplayer was dressed as DP, and asked me “Have you seen this guy?”, holding a bottle of “Ajax” detergent, with the logo overwritten in marker by the name “Francis”. If I hadn’t *just* seen the movie, I wouldn’t have gotten it. THAT was hilarious! Big kudos to that cosplayer.
I think all of the tangents during your conversation fits quite nicely with Deadpool, IMHO. Thanks for another fun “not comics” special, gang!
