Hey guys. Time for me to put in my two cents again!
Journey Into Mystery #83- Some interesting thought on cultural appropriation. I would say that even if it didn’t turn out that Don Blake was already Thor, it would be ok for him to take the Hammer because of the inscription. If the hammer didn’t think he was worthy it would have stayed a stick and he would have left it. It’s not so much that he deserves it, as it is the hammer chose him. Also, since it did turn him into Thor, that means that Asgard is most likely real. The hammer belongs to Asgard, not Norway or Sweden or whichever country this story takes place in. Speaking of Asgard, I’m really looking forward to seeing how the Don Blake/Thor dynamic progresses from Don’s mind in Thor’s body to the actual Thor that we all know.
Speaking of the original Captain Marvel, I’ve been doing a reading project of the Fawcett hero line and from what I’ve read so far, Bill and Cap are different people with shared memory. In the modern versions, it’s Billy’s mind in control of both bodies.
Tales To Astonish #35
Looking back at these original stories makes me realize how close Hank Pym must be to Reed Richards in intelligence. Most people usually specialize in one thing (like Tony Stark, he’s really smart but I would classify him as more of an Electrical Engineer). It looks like Hank would probably have multiple degrees. Maybe just not as many as Reed. We know he’s good at Bio-Chemistry and Robotics at least.
Fantastic Four #6
Did Sue give Namor that picture or did he join an FF Fan Club?
I’m pretty sure the creation of unstable molecules has been officially credited to Reed but I’m curious when that will happen.
I thought Namor had the ‘air room’ in case Sue ever said yes to him. By the way, the Namor series by John Byrne is awesome. Well worth a read.
Finally. Jon, your head cannon explanation about Reed and Sue’s relationship is exactly what I have been thinking.
